General Medicine (H.A)

CTEVT has introduced a three-years Certificate in Health Assistant Program to produce Health Assistant as middle level medical service providers

Objectives of the program
The graduates of Certificate in Health Sciences (General Medicine) Health Assistant Program will
  1. Demonstrate competency in identifying and resolving community health problems.
  2. Demonstrate basic knowledge and clinicalskills necessary to diagnose and manage primary health problems of patients.
  3. Exhibit leadership skills and professional characteristics and attitude required in the role of Health Post Manager.
  4. Demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to work in a variety of health care settings. Course duration
The certificate in general medicine is a three years (annual system) program.

Admission criteria
To fulfill the entry level requirement for admission, candidates must have passed the school leaving certificate (SLC) with second division in aggregate, and a pass in the entrance examination conducted by CTEVT.


Entrance
A three hours entrance examination will be held for one comprehensive paper (50 marks each for English, Math and Science). The questions will be of multiple choices. Candidates must pass the entrance examination and the selection will be based on the merit list in the descending order.

Available seats
Forty candidates (affiliated seats to CTEVT) from the merit list of entrance examination will get the opportunity to get admitted at MANASAROBAR INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY. Alternate candidates in the merit list will be given the opportunity if any of the main candidates fails to admit.

Practical Exposure
Students spend majority of time in practical areas in accordance with the course requirement. Various specialized hospitals, clinics, urban as well as rural communities (concurrent and residential), industries community and government run schools are the areas where students will be exposed to gain practical skills and knowledge under close supervision of highly qualified and skilled manpower. Besides, students will also be posted in our own well equipped MECHI ANCHAL HOSPITAL on rotation basis.

Evaluation system
Students must obtain 80% and 90 % attendance in theory and practicum respectively in order to sit in the final examination held by CTEVT. If student lacks the stipulate attendance, he/she must repeat to make up the attendance in that subject, especially in the particular lesion, before he/she is permitted to take the internal and external examination. Besides students must obtain pass marks in the internal assessment conducted by the faculty twice every year (40 % in theory and 60% in practicum) in order to be qualified for the final examination. The students must pass the external exam independently of the internal assessment marks (the internal marks and external marks will not be averaged together to give a passing marks). These standards apply to all the courses except the third year comprehensive practices, which will be evaluated on the basis of supervision, presentation and report.

Certificate (Diploma) in pharmacy 3years
CTEVT has introduced a three-years Diploma in Pharmacy program to produce Pharmacy Assistants as middle level service providers in the pharmaceutical sector

Objectives
The course aims to produce middle level pharmacy personnel with sound academic knowledge equipped with perfect technical skills who can face real life situation at the level they are aimed at. The course enables students
  1. To prepare technically competent middle level pharmaceutical professionals resources who will demonstrate positive attitude and respect for the profession and socio cultural values.
  2. To develop middle level pharmaceutical human resources for good pharmacy practice in the hospital as well as in the community settings.
  3. To inculcate leadership quality in pharmacy assistants to manage rational supply of pharmaceuticals and to promote rational use of drugs within the health care service or at the private pharmacies.
  4. To develop middle level pharmaceutical human resources in order to assist in the production and quality assurance of pharmaceuticals.

Besides, students will also be posted in our own well equipped MECHI ANCHAL HOSPITAL on rotation basis.

Evaluation system
Students must obtain a minimum of 90 % attendance in order to sit for the final examination held by CTEVT. Besides students must obtain pass marks in the internal assessment conducted by the faculty twice every year (40% in theory and 60% in practicum) in order to be qualified for the final examination. Internal assessment carries 20 percent and 40 percent of the total theory and practicum marks respectively in every subject. Final exam will be on the basis of written, practical and viva voce conducted by CTEV
